Central is currently recruiting for a Mental Health Support Worker, to work in the Haringey area. The services provide support to people experiencing Mental Health pressures to access services and develop coping skills.
The successful candidate will be required to work 35 hours per week, working across Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5PM. Temporary cover is required for approximately 1 month. The pay rate for this role is £15.87 per hour, with £2.23 holiday pay, totalling £18.10 per hour.
Please note: you'll be required to work across 6 supported housing services in the Haringey area.
In this position, you will be expected to:
- Hold a caseload of 9 key clients and conduct regular key working sessions, developing person centred multi agency support plans.
- Work to a recovery-based and aspirations-led model.
- Actively support clients to achieve tangible progress in areas such as tenancy management, independent living skills and training/education.
- Act as a point of contact for other agencies working with the individual and plan interventions flexibly to meet individual needs.
- Plan for reduced involvement as the service user gains sustained mental wellbeing and control and plan for service exits, building in aftercare and rapid return if necessary.
- Provide assertive support to ensure effective engagement, to achieve personal goals and aspirations for wellness and enjoyment of life.
- Provide initial advocacy and support to access appropriate services and agencies.
- Support individuals to engage in meaningful activity and facilitate activities such as an LGBT group and healthy eating group, and develop other activities with guidance and input from service users.
- Keep up to date on current treatment models, care philosophy and Mental Health legislation.
- Deal with general correspondence and enquiries relating to service users and the service.
- Maintain office systems and the central databases

- Minimum 2 years experiencing of working with people experiencing mental ill health.
- Experience of working with substance missus client
- Experience of working with and managing risk therapeutically
- Experience of working in partnership with external Mental Health services and other agencies
- Experience of facilitating groups, setting group objectives and reviewing outcomes.
- Experience of using data bases to record client need, interventions and progress.
- Experience of dealing with clients that are relapsing and going through a crisis.
- Experience in dealing with confrontational behaviour.
- Knowledge of the range of services available to people with Mental Health needs or other complex needs.
- The ability to plan and organise own workload.

Further requirements:
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Current valid right to work in the UK
- Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
- A fully enhanced DBS registered on the DBS update service or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)
- Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
