JOB TITLE:

Merchandiser Womens Casual Bottoms & Denim 

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is a fixed term role covering Maternity leave, to run the Merchandising for the Womens Casual Bottoms & Denim Departments 

Involves managing  an assistant

Expectation of the role:

To plan and trade the department sales and markdown budgets, control stock levels, deliver a balanced, timely & commercial range whilst driving profit ahead of sales. 

• Demonstrates great teamwork & leadership skills to create a robust financial strategy, which includes Profit, building blocks (sales & margin), category sheet, promotional strategy, attribute mix and risk management.
• Works with buyer to deliver season margin building blocks & highlights the impact to profit.
• Working with the buyer, establishes our current market position, identifies where we want to be and builds a strategy of how to achieve it.
• Demonstrates great teamwork with the buyer & designer, influencing that key looks / high ranked lines go down the store distribution and drives category ranking.
• Calculates buy quantities against each line and rolls up to the category / dept budgets.
• Takes ownership in delivering an event sign off across the George business.
• Adept at financial planning, sets up a % bought sheet and ensures all the financial plans reconcile to the total season budget. Manages spend position effectively.
• Accountable for the overall department stock management ensuring correct mix of stock in store in line with supply chain targets. Adept at planning the supply chain targets.
• Responsible for capacity and fabric planning with supply base. Reviews YOY business.
• Accountable with the buyer for the completion of the supplier strategy built up from a lead time, risk & margin strategy and presents to the sourcing team.
• Drives and inspires the wider team to deliver a focused trade message and ensures the actions are delivered. Ensures the teams report on sales / profit across all multi-channels.
• Demonstrates proactive forecasting skills within financial planning tool, reviewing future markdown risk, highlighting OTB opportunities and identifying any stock risk.
• Empowers the team by asking powerful questions, encouraging colleagues to think through issues, learn to self-manage and be accountable.
• Plans the financial strategy including Profit, building blocks, category sheet, Good-Better-Best mix, promotional activity and relevant attributes. Delivers profit ahead of sales.
