As a Meter Reader you will be responsible for collecting data from gas, electricity & water meters for both commercial and
residential properties. You will update meter reads accurately throughout the day on your handheld device, also entering the
details on a handheld device at each location and providing excellent customer service.
What we offer:
- £11.53 - 12.00 per hour basic pay.
- Weekly Hours 20, 40, 42 or 45 hours a week, with flexible start / finish times between 8am - 8pm.
- £25,000 to £30,000 a year average earnings with additional bonuses on average £250 -500 monthly.
- Hours of work mostly will be Monday – Friday 8am -8pm. (occasionally Saturday)
- Weekly payment.
- Mileage allowance paid 38 pence per mile.

- Full UK Driving Licence (Minimum 1 year, maximum 6 points) (not required in London)
- Own vehicle (Company car based on availability)
- Be able to obtain business use for your insurance policy if you use your own vehicle.
- Physically fit: expect to walk up to 4 -6 miles per day, climbing stairs and crouching, bending in tight spaces, (may get dirty sometimes when reaching outside water Meter Readers)
- Happy to work in all weather conditions.
- Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions)
- Credit Report check (no county court judgements for the last 6 years)
- Previous Customer Service experience (preferred not essential)
- Retrieving data from domestic, commercial, and industrial sites for Water, Gas and Electric Meters, full training will be given.
- Carry out visual inspections of associated metering equipment.
- Charge Point Surveys.
- Drive and motivation to work in an independent role.
- Friendly personality with a professional approach to work.
- Adhering to Health and Safety guidelines at all times.
- Training is 1 week and will be both classroom-based and field-based with an experienced meter reading training team, so you get to see the job through a professional’s eyes.
