Job description

POPULOUS is an award-winning, international design practice specialising in sport and entertainment venues that draw people and communities together for unforgettable experiences.
We are looking for creative and flexible Wayfinding Designers. The principal responsibilities of this position will be the development of wayfinding strategies, the design of signs and sign families, and the implementation of these across sports and entertainment architecture and the built environment.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team you will collaborate with other design disciplines in the studio to develop wayfinding strategies and sign families. Our role would suit designers with prior experience working in this field. This role would see the designer working with a mix of wayfinding strategists, industrial designers, graphic designers, and project architects. All the usual program knowledge required plus some user-centred design knowledge would be advantageous.
Responsibilities
  • Collaboration with wayfinding, industrial and architectural design teams
  • Developing wayfinding strategies
  • Developing sign families
  • Applying these strategies across wayfinding and signage schemes
  • Doing design and project research
  • Generating reports, drawings and documentation
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelors and/or Masters degree in a design related subject
  • Relevant experience in established agencies
  • Willingness to learn
  • Flexible, collaborative and work well under pressure
  • Experience in working wayfinding projects alongside architects and industrial designers
  • Good knowledge of typography and graphic design
  • Good knowledge of usability and user-centred design
  • Experience working with design guidelines
  • Great written, spoken and interpersonal communication skills
  • Confidence at presenting your work and ability to manage own project timings
  • Ability to work across multiple projects
  • Proactive, collaborative and work well under pressure
  • Proficient in at least: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • CAD, BIM, Rhino or similar skills are a big plus
