Flint Technology Services Ltd is looking for a Mobile Network Engineer to join one of our telecommunications clients based in Birmingham, on a permanent basis. We are looking to start the interview process early in January 2024.
Reporting to the Networks Team Leader, the Mobile Core Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting and problem resolution of our private telecom test networks, carrier grade cores, as well as documenting the infrastructure, and planning infrastructure changes to meet the ever-evolving needs of our company. The Mobile Core Engineer will be expected to maintain relationships with 3rd party technical support teams from vendors, as well as with partner organisations and take a leadership role of more junior engineers when required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot networks to identify and diagnose any issues that arise.
- Craft and deliver proposals and design documentation.
- Supports continuous improvement using best practice, innovation, whole life cost optimisation and effective root cause analysis.
- Assimilate vendor product information and technology requirements to plan and develop installation plans to meet the company’s network security requirements.
- Integrate and configure new hardware and software to the company’s telecoms networks including managing dependencies and configuration.
- Support security and interoperability testing activities and configure or create test environments.
About You
- Working knowledge of Juniper, Cisco and Aruba Network Devices
- Experience working with Carrier Grade Telecom Core deployments in any specialism.
- Track record acting as a hands-on engineer in the Telecom Engineering domain, with the drive and technical skills to design, implement and help to ensure the smooth operation of key complex network solutions
- Experience in operating and maintaining core networks used by major UK MNOs a plus.
- Knowledge of core telecoms network infrastructure and protocols (OSS/BSS, BGP, OSPF, MPLS) a plus.
- Experience with Ericsson & Nokia Carrier Grade Cores a plus.
- Experience in LAN/WAN technologies – Layer 1/2/3 switching/VLAN’s/ACL’s
- Experience of making network changes in controlled environment via IT CAB process
