Job description

The efficient maintenance and support of our systems and infrastructure is essential to business continuity, so you’ll work with the business to understand what their needs are. 

From planning and engineering solutions to applications problems, administration or network issues; to providing 3rd line IT service desk support; to liaising with external suppliers to resolve issues or even assisting with the design and testing of disaster recover procedures… you’ll do whatever it takes to optimise performance, whilst minimising disruption and downtime.

You’ll also transfer your knowledge to 1st and 2nd line support when transitioning projects to operational support, as well as update documentation in relation to infrastructure systems. 

Successful Applicants must be able to commute to the UKTL offices in Solihull, Birmingham with the possibility of hybrid working.

A member of the UKTL team, responsible for maintaining, and reconfiguring the cores to support testing and evaluation activities, and to maintain representative MNO capability within UK Telecoms.

  • Working knowledge of Juniper, Cisco and Aruba Network Devices
  • Experience working with Carrier Grade Telecom Core deployments in any specialism.
  • Experience in LAN/WAN technologies - Layer 1/2/3 switching/VLAN’s/ACL’s
  • Experience of making network changes in controlled environment via IT CAB process
  • Track record acting as a hands-on engineer in the Telecom Engineering domain, with the drive and technical skills to design, implement and help to ensure the smooth operation of key complex network solutions
  • Experience in operating and maintaining core networks used by major UK MNOs a plus.
  • Knowledge of core telecoms network infrastructure and protocols (OSS / BSS, BGP, OSPF, MPLS) a plus.
  • Experience with Ericsson and/or Nokia Carrier Grade Cores.
