Machining - Modern Apprenticeships


Role Profile:


As a Machinist Apprentice you will predominantly be involved in highly skilled, complex and precision work, machining components from various materials.

You will be required to set up, operate and adjust/edit equipment settings as applicable to the machine tool being used.


What Does The Apprenticeship Involve:


  • A 4 year apprenticeship to become qualified with an HNC In Mechanical Engineering.
  • You will spend the first year at Angus Training Group learning the fundamentals of manufacturing, including machining, assembling and inspection.
  • You will then begin work in the Halliburton manufacturing facility and receive training on various machine tools & Inspection equipment used in the manufacture of a range of Halliburton Completion products.
  • There are a variety of machines that are used to manufacture the components, such as CNC lathes and Mills as well as other specialist machines such as Hones and Gun Drills.
  • You will learn to use a range of measuring equipment to allow you to measure the components being manufactured to ensure that they meet the design specifications.
  • You will be responsible for health and safety in your own work area as well as having responsibility for the cleanliness and housekeeping within your work area ensuring suitability for the manufacture of high value manufactured products.


Qualifications required:


NAT 4 or higher in Maths/English and a Technical based subject
