Job description

As our business grows and develops, we now require a Compliance Team Leader to join our wider Legal and Compliance team. You will be reporting into the Compliance Manager and overseeing a small team of 3 within Compliance. We are a well established financial services organisation and an industry leader in our field of the buy to let mortgage sector. The team comprises the Compliance Manager, the Compliance Lead and Compliance Officers as part of a wider team of our growing UK Head Office. The role would suit candidates with relevant compliance related experience gained within the mortgage or financial services sectors who are keen to learn and develop their career with our business. You should also have some people management skills alongside proven experience in a financial services based compliance or audit role whereby you are involved in thematic reviews or compliance monitoring plans, reviewing and developing processes and procedures and be happy to present to senior members of the business.
The purpose of the role is to deliver on the Compliance Monitoring Plan using their analytical thinking, expertise in monitoring of control design and effectiveness and compliance. Also, to help protect the business from fraudulent activity and act in a compliant manner at all times in line with regulatory guidelines and our policies and procedures.

Working Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm with a salary up to £50k plus discretionary annual bonus. Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the job holder will be responsible for: -

• Deputising for the Compliance Manager as and when required
• Responsible for delivery against the Compliance Monitoring Plan
• Reporting on the progress of the plan and keeping the Compliance Manager informed at all times
• A Senior member of the team with responsibilities for the Compliance Officers, being proactive in dealing with any issues as they arise
• Provide feedback on risks, controls and issues within the business
• Responsible for the development of the Compliance Officers
• Oversee Compliance Officers monitoring
• Ensure the business is remaining compliant with policies and procedures whilst highlighting areas for improvements to management
• Review Compliance Officer findings and reports before these are shared outside of the team
• Draft reports for the compliance activities and findings whilst ensuring any actions agreed are relevant to the findings and appropriate to the action owners
• Ensure the Compliance Monitoring Plan remains on target and if not highlight concerns before they arise
• Ensure records are updated and maintained in accordance within agreed policy and procedures
• Work to agreed objectives, service standards and deliverables whilst adhering to company and departmental policies and procedures
• Monitor the business on adherence to regulatory and legislative rules and Guidance
• Be a passionate for improvement and change within the business

• Be able to identify where opportunities for improvements can be made at an individual, departmental, and business level
• Experienced in a compliance or auditing environment, be able to share best practice and identify areas for improvements
• Have a personal drive and passion for delivering high standards and positive results
• Excellent communication skills and always ensuring the correct message has been delivered
• Good attention to detail so compliance monitoring activities and their findings are accurate
• Handle internal and external queries and enquiries effectively, accurately, and professionally, delivering excellent service
• Develop positive working relationships with colleagues and other departments
• Continually consider improvements for service and efficiency making suggestions on such improvements through agreed channels
• Take responsibility for your own learning and development
• Great stakeholder management skills

To be successful you should have proven people management skills coupled with the compliance and/or audit knowledge from experience gained within financial services or the mortgage sector. You should be keen to develop your career within the financial services sector and have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
