Advise the Clinical Specialist physiotherapist on more complex referrals received into the Physiotherapy Service, to make decisions on the skill level required to assess and treat the patients. Refer to appropriate clinicians patients who do not require the skills of an Extended Scope Practitioner ensuring appropriate and effective patient management. This may follow initial assessment. Manage a clinical caseload of patients requiring advanced clinical reasoning and manual therapy skills. Assess a patients understanding of physiotherapy proposals and gain valid informed consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment. Undertake an advanced specialist assessment of patients, provide a diagnosis, formulate an accurate prognosis, discuss treatment options and agree an individual goal orientated treatment programme, using prescribing when appropriate with the patients informed consent. Prescribe in line with Trust Guidelines, prescribing protocols and personal prescribing formulary. Use advanced clinical reasoning skills beyond the scope of physiotherapy to provide advanced diagnosis and treatment. Full JD & PS attached.
