Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician PERMANENT NIGHTS

Location: Leicester

Shift Pattern: 45 hours per week 20:00 05:00 Monday to Friday

We are seeking a dedicated Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician to oversee and drive all nightshift engineering activities. The role entails ensuring optimal operational efficiency through proactive implementation of planned preventive maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, engineering, and process improvements. As a key member of the team, you will uphold high engineering standards, compliance, and health & safety protocols on a daily basis.

Key Skills for this Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician role:

• Mechanical engineering qualification NVQ Level 3 minimum (Desirable but not essential)
• Desirable electrical engineering qualification
• Experience in industrial maintenance using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Previous experience in the waste industry, particularly with heavy plant and conveyors

Main Duties for this Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician role:

• Ensure staff safety, striving for zero accidents & LTI's.
• Report accidents, incidents, and near misses promptly.
• Supervise Contractors to ensure adherence to Biffa policies.
• Lead the engineering team to address production and plant availability daily.
• Manage day-to-day engineering functions effectively.
• Plan and execute site PPM's based on priorities and operational needs.
• Communicate and manage stock usage efficiently.
• Anticipate spares and labor needs to minimize disruptions.
• Respond quickly to reactive breakdowns, reducing downtime.
• Provide effective shift handovers and reports to Management daily.
• Drive daily site KPIs with engineering and operations teams.
• Develop, train, and share knowledge for staff skill enhancement.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards.
• Ensure adherence to company holiday booking policy.
