About the role

Siemens Mobility are recruiting for the Technician Infrastructure Maintenance role within our Edinburgh Trams Infrastructure Maintenance business. Reporting to the Senior Technician Infrastructure Maintenance, the successful candidate will work within the team of multidisciplinary Technicians in delivering the various elements of Edinburgh Tram Infrastructure Maintenance and Response service. 

To undertake maintenance and response service to Edinburgh Trams Infrastructure and carry out associated activities that support the operation of the Edinburgh Tram Network.  The role will require the successful candidate to undertake all infrastructure maintenance and response activities to ensure the safe operation of the tram infrastructure.

We are looking for someone with experience of working within a multidisciplinary maintenance organisation, preferably in the light rail sector.  We are looking for someone who is not content with the status quo and is continuously searching for ways to improve the service delivery thorough innovation and adoption of best practice from any arena. This role will require you to carry out work safely in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures. You will undertake specific inspections; prepare work, resource specification and method statements, working in accordance with safe systems of work plans. You will deliver any works in accordance with the relevant maintenance plans.

  • Key Responsibilities

-         Undertake maintenance and response activities

-         Allocate and manage resources to meet the daily production plan, liaising with Senior Technician, Track Manager and E&M Manager

-         Carry out routine planned and corrective maintenance of Tram Infrastructure

-         Act as liaison with the customer for out of course events as required

-         Ensure that maintenance is undertaken in accordance with set down Edinburgh Trams maintenance standards 

-         Provide guidance for team members on technical and operational issues

-         Responsible for the shift handover, when acting as shift supervisor

-         Liaison with Operational control where necessary

-         Ensure that any Infrastructure/Plant defects are recorded on the Maintenance Management System (MMS) & acted upon in accordance with the performance regime

-         Agree prioritisation of work, liaising with Senior Technician, Track Manager and E&M Manager

-         Undertaken any other duties as and when required

-         Follow the good examples set by members of the Management team in creating a robust H&S culture within Siemens Mobility

-         Set an example by their own actions and activities

-         Ensure that they are personally capable and competent to undertake the tasks allocated to them

-         Be prepared and be competent to manage any foreseen emergency situations

Essential

  • Must have relevant experience in an electrical / mechanical engineering environment
  • Good all-round knowledge of the technical aspects of Infrastructure systems & equipment.
  • Complete all records of actions and operations accurately and to procedures
  • Knowledge of health and safety including risk assessment, manual handling and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
  • Experience of working in a team
  • Knowledge of IT systems and software
  • Good communication, planning and organisational skills
  • Full Drivers Licence

Preferred

  • Experience of MV / HV electrical power systems, maintenance and switching, advisable
