Multi-Skilled Technician

Working as part of the Engineering & Maintenance Team you will work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to ensure the maintenance and improvement of electrical & mechanical equipment on site and the rectification of breakdowns and installation of new plant and equipment.
The Multi-Skilled Technician is a key member of the Engineering & Maintenance Team and performs a critical function within the business, taking the lead on improvement projects and initiatives and supporting key automation improvements, as well as supporting the production team with repairs and general maintenance tasks.
As an Multi-Skilled Technician you will be working on a rotating day shift pattern of 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm rotating on a weekly basis, to:
Work with all members of the team to diagnose ongoing electrical and mechanical machine issues and determine how to correct and improve them. Removing any faults in a timely manner. Determine solutions using schematics / drawings, repair manuals or parts catalogues as necessaryEvaluate, design, plan and implement improvements to equipmentWork from schedules and production plans to ensure project deadlines are identified and achievedLiaise with internal and external personnel in order to purchase necessary parts and equipment to complete required activitiesOperate with a focus on providing high levels of service and response timesCarry out Fault Finding and Diagnosis of machinery and equipment breakdowns, including electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic/mechanical faultsComply with all Electrical legislation and document your actions accordinglyMaintain written records of all breakdowns and repairs allowing for analysis and compliance with ISO 9000 standardsEnsure and maintain a safe working environment by adherence to HSE requirementsComplete Hazard Tags where requiredSupport continuous improvement activities and initiativesEnsure housekeeping within work area is maintained at the highest level ensuring adherence to BRC accreditation and standards at all timesAct as a valuable member of the Engineering Team, able to offer informative input to all Engineering / Production Improvement / Continuous Improvement and Cost Down ActivitiesTo carry out or assist with any duties as deemed necessary in connection with the business
Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
Fully Qualified ElectricianPractical work experience in electrical / mechanical maintenanceUnderstanding of H&S requirements and key principlesAbility to read relevant drawings/schematicsKnowledge of PLCs, Inverter Drives, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Safety Circuits, Factory InstallationsUnderstanding of power press and associated regulationsAble to read and interpret documents i.e. Safety Rules, Operating instructionsAble to work with motors, gearboxes, sensors, switches, heating elements and roboticsManufacturing environment backgroundAble to work as part of a teamFlexible approach in order to meet business and departmental requirementsExcellent time management skillsAble to work on own initiative and manage own priorities and time constraints
