Music Media and Performing Arts Technician - 36 hours a week - Full Time - Permanent
Creative and Enterprise Directorate - Broxbourne Campus
We're looking for a dynamic Technician to join our Music, Media and Performing Arts team. You will be required to provide support to teaching staff and learners across Music, Media and Performing Arts. You will also be responsible for sound engineering at student concerts and studio recording sessions.
Part of the role includes supporting and instructing students in the correct and best use of the music recording equipment, ensuring health and safety compliance, and sharing recording and production techniques using your knowledge and experience of the equipment and software.
You will be required to make simple repairs to equipment and maintain the music equipment to meet the College's Health & Safety requirements and assist staff in the preparation of professional facilities. In conjunction with the Senior Technician, you will ensure that appropriate materials are ordered and maintained correctly for the successful upkeep of the department.
As well as occasionally attending and engineering live events, you will assist with student recruitment events such as Open Days and Evenings, so a degree of flexibility will be required.
We are seeking an individual with:
  • Technical knowledge of audio, coupled with motivation and passion for music, the creative industries and professional sound recording
  • Self-motivation and desire to help students achieve their potential
  • An ability to problem-solve and a willingness to take initiative on a daily basis
  • Ability to demonstrate recording techniques, use of DAW software and a live sound mixing console
  • Ability to set up and maintain a music recording studio environment effectively
  • Awareness and willingness to follow exemplary Health and Safety practice

Salary: S3 £21,690 - £23,050 per annum
