ROLE SUMMARY:
St. Anthony’s School for Boys are looking to recruit an outstanding Music Teacher who has a passion for both teaching and learning, as well as their own professional development. We have very high standards of ourselves and our pupils, and believe that stretch and challenge are essential ingredients to real academic success. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that Schemes of Work Curriculum Plans from Nursery to Year 8 are fit for purpose and highly engaging for all pupils across the ability range, including the incorporation of challenge and stretch for the most able and support for those with additional needs;
- Ensure that pupils are given a range of music making opportunities, both within the formal curriculum and co-curricular activities;
- Contribute to school and community events such as, for example, leading hymn practice in assembly and/or playing a musical instrument as required;
- Develop and oversee the school choir, as well as coordinating concerts, performances and productions for the wider school community;
- Proactively seek out opportunities to develop the musical acumen of pupils, including identifying those with exceptional talent and providing high-quality input for scholarship pupils;
- Organise and oversee the provision of Peripatetic Music teaching;
- Ensure that all assessments are fit for purpose and in line with the school’s reporting and assessment policy;
- Be responsible for progress tracking for Music, in line with the whole school reporting and assessment policy, as well as ensuring accurate record keeping regarding progress data;
- Communicate clearly and proactively with parents regarding their son’s performance in music, including writing and proofreading all reports written for the Music department for each reporting cycle;
- Complete and update annual Department Handbook and Departmental Development Plan in line with the whole-school goals set out in the School Development Plan

The desire to want to contribute to the overall Musical life of the school beyond the taught curriculum
Experience teaching across varying Key Stages;
Desirable:
It would be advantageous for the candidate to have experience in more than one of the Creative Arts subjects.
