Job description

This role has a starting salary of GBP52,047 per annum, based on a 36–hour working week.
Surrey Arts is on an inspiring journey of transformation, aiming to modernise, expand, and diversify our musical offer. As part of this mission, we are seeking a dynamic and visionary Musical Progression Senior Lead to join our Senior Leadership team. The team is based in Guildford, with members splitting their week between working from home, the office, and attending meetings throughout the county.

Surrey Arts is the Arts Service for Surrey County Council. We are the lead delivery organisation for Surrey Music Education Hub. We provide music lessons, instrument hire, out of school music centres, activities, and ensembles for young people. Surrey Arts is the lead partner for the Cultural Education Partnership as well as leading on a range of arts and culture programmes across the county.

About the Role
This post is part of Senior Leadership role within Surrey Arts as part of the music team, working strategically on development of all Surrey Arts' work and the Music Education Hub. The role will involve:
Leading our out of school music provision (music centres, holiday provision) and ensembles Leading the transformation programme for our ensemble provision Developing our progression strategy to support the development of diverse progression opportunities for young people including accreditation and pathways into the creative and cultural industries Developing partnerships with external organisations to broaden and diversify the local musical offer for young people You will be working with members of the wider Surrey Arts leadership, administration and teaching teams and will take responsibility for service wide developments to evolve our offer for young people, ensuring that we are delivering the aims of the National Plan for Music Education.
Shortlisting Criteria
To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your CV and personal statement should clearly evidence the following:
Demonstrable success as an instrumental, vocal or classroom music teacher (or equivalent experience as a leader in formal/ arts education) A recognised teaching and/or management qualification or equivalent experience A developed understanding of Musical Progression routes to meet the needs of our diverse community Demonstrable experience in successful recruiting, managing, coaching and developing staff Informed understanding of the needs of our key stakeholders: SCC, ACE, schools, DFE and in–depth knowledge of the current developments in the wider music education landscape When applying for the role, you will be asked to answer the following questions:

As part of the interview process, candidates will be asked to deliver a short presentation and complete a task which will be set on the day.
