We are looking to recruit Firearms Instructors and welcome applications from candidates who are currently an accredited Police National Firearms Instructor AND have either Q1/Q100 or Q8/Q800 AND recent experience of deploying as a MASTS AFO or significant training experience of MAST (Mobile Armed Support To Surveillance).
The role of a Firearms Instructor in the NCA is to support the delivery of firearms training to National Crime Agency (NCA) officers and contribute towards the achievement of the Agency strategic objectives and in particular it is to design, develop and deliver firearms related training in accordance with the standards set by the NCA Firearms Training Manager, the College of Policing (CoP) and the National Police Firearms Training Curriculum (NPFTC).
Roles based in London will receive an additional London Weighting of £3,847. Recruitment and Retention Allowance: This is currently set at £3,000 for this post. The RRA is an enhancement to the role and is reviewed annually. This role attracts a SPOT Rate salary. SPOT Rate offers a progressive increase in pay to reflect the skills and experience of the officer.
The starting SPOT Rate is SPOT Rate 2 £48,798. Progression to a higher spot rate is only achievable once in post. The SPOT Rate range for this role includes SPOT Rate 4 £50,746.
Officers who are a fully qualified advanced driver, surveillance officer AND currently fully qualified as an AFO, OFC or Tac Advisor AND has deployed on four occasions on an armed operation in the previous 12 months may be eligible for a pay uplift to £50,746. Eligibility for SPOT Rates is determined by the requirements of the role, not the skills or capabilities of the officer occupying the role. Roles where IPP or PIP2 accreditation is essential are eligible for SPOT Rates. Civil service salary matching is not permitted on the SPOT Rate structure.
