Native Mobile Qa Engineer

Reach’s new customer value strategy puts our customers and their experience at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for a Native Mobile QA Engineer to join an agile development team that maintains the quality standards for our existing and new functionalities for our Android applications.

The role reports to the Head of QA. Works under the Apps QA Lead and other software engineers, project managers, designers and QA team members.

Role Location

This is a remote position, and so we are therefore open to candidates based across the UK. We can be flexible, however we would expect the incumbent to travel to HQ in Canary Wharf at least once a month.

We’re looking for a Native Mobile QA Engineer who should possess a strong background in software testing methodologies and tools, with a specific focus on automating tests for Android platforms. They should be proficient in using testing frameworks like Espresso and have experience in writing robust tests. Additionally, the candidate should have a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving bugs and issues. Their role will be instrumental in maintaining the high standards of our mobile apps, ensuring a seamless user experience for readers across Android devices.

Role Responsibility
Your role responsibilities will include but not be limited to

• Responsible for developing test cases and automating them as part of our UI and E2E unit using Espresso and UIAutomator
• Responsible for carrying out manual testing for all new features developed by the team
• Assists in an accurate estimate of building and executing tests
• Provide ideas and plans of how we can further improve our frameworks and processes

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in QA engineering
• A fan of data and a believer in the opportunities it can unlock.
• A confident and articulate communicator who inspires strong collaboration within an organisation and between teams
• A self-starter with a can-do, will-do attitude
• Strong experience with Kotlin programming language for test automation and development
• Demonstrate ability in writing custom matchers for tailored testing scenarios
• Experience with Dagger and Hilt dependency injection frameworks

The Ideal candidate

The following are considered desirable but not essential skills to have:

• The ideal candidate for this position should have strong Android automation skills focused on Espresso and UIAutomator. You will have experience working collaboratively within a mobile development team with a non-hierarchical structure, be self-directed and happy to work on your own initiative.
