Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join our successful private markets business at LGIM as a Natural Capital Lead in the LGIM Real Assets Responsible Investment & Sustainability team.
This role will be key to building our natural capital strategy, in order to align with our broader sustainability objectives such as net zero carbon, climate resilience and biodiversity net gain, as well as exploring how we can generate investment opportunities for our clients. It will also play a key role in implementing our natural capital projects and managing internal stakeholder engagement.
What you will be doing:
  • Lead and support strategic nature/climate related initiatives across the private markets business, and link into wider initiatives across LGIM and Group
  • Facilitate workshops, presentations, deliverables for projects and project management
  • Undertake research and market analysis in nature-based solutions and natural capital generally - both for domestic and international markets
  • Support our carbon offsetting approach and process to ensure integrity as part of our portfolio decarbonisation requirements
  • Support the strategy and implementation of new NBS projects, including due diligence, carbon credit forecasting and eligibility control.
  • Liaise with and project manage any 3rd party specialist partners to meet project objectives
  • Support on our requirements to meet Biodiversity net gain (BNG) for planning requirements under regulations
  • Support various workstreams on nature and development of work towards the Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD)
  • Work with other teams across the business to identify opportunities and build the business case to accelerate natural capital products and investments to meet client demand
  • Preparing concise, client friendly reports and presentations

Qualifications
  • Experience of the nature-related sector (potentially from consultancy)
  • An appropriate academic qualification in a related discipline and relevant professional membership
  • Strong understanding of the associated regulations
  • Understanding and practical experience of applying land and biodiversity tools and metrics.
  • Understanding of/interest in developing nature recovery plans, habitat management plans and/or other strategic land, biodiversity, and carbon management
  • The ability to apply technical excellence in a commercially astute manner
  • Excellent research, analytical, writing and presentational skills
  • A positive, can-do attitude to problem solving and good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Organised and versatile, with an ability to multi-task
  • A collaborator who can connect well with teammates as well as other functions
