Job description

- Suffolk County Council - Various locations in Suffolk and Norfolk - Hybrid
- £38,223 - £40,008 per annum (pro rata if part time)
- 37 hours per week - (flexible working options available)
- Fixed Term / Secondment to July 2025
We’re passionate about improving the future for our customers, our communities and the environment.
If you are too, join us as a Nature Recovery Partnership Manager and make a huge and meaningful impact. Your innovation and drive will help us to continue improving and evolving. Our opportunities and support will enable you to make a difference and leave a positive, lasting legacy.
Reimagine the possibilities.
This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the Nature Recovery Partnership for Norfolk and Suffolk. Leading our joint work to develop Local Nature Recovery Strategies (LNRS) for the two counties, to help shape and realise landscape scale Nature Recovery across the region. You will be based with Suffolk County Council’s (SCC) Natural and Historic Environment Team but work as part of a joint project team with Norfolk County Council. You will have the ability to work flexibly from different locations across the two counties.
We’re looking for someone with a passion to foster collaboration and build alliances that can deliver Nature Recovery at scale across the two counties. You will have the drive and vision to engage a wide range of sectors and interests in developing the Local Nature Recovery Strategies, and an awareness and understanding of how these can help support Nature Recovery actions and nature-based solutions going forward. We are happy to consider secondment options for suitable candidates.
Your role and responsibilities
- You will help shape and deliver the respective Local Nature Recovery Strategies for the two counties through the Norfolk and Suffolk Nature Recovery Partnership and wider collaboration and shared resourcing.
- Working with a wide range of stakeholders and delivery bodies, promoting innovation and good practice in addressing the priorities identified in the LNRS and Norfolk and Suffolk Natural Capital Evidence compendium.
- Identify policy and funding mechanisms emerging from government and business and help to facilitate greater awareness and investment in those opportunities across the two counties, supporting collaborative approaches where appropriate.
- The role supports the work of the Norfolk and Suffolk Nature Recovery Partnership and will involve representing Norfolk and Suffolk’s Nature Recovery ambitions locally, regionally, and nationally.
What you will need
- To be a self-starter, able to work independently with limited supervision, with good analytical and entrepreneurial skills, be an effective communicator, and have good experience working with multiple interests and stakeholders towards shared goals.
- You will need to demonstrate a broad understanding of the environmental, economic, and social context for Nature Recovery across Norfolk and Suffolk, as well as a good awareness of the broader socio-political context.
- Experience in applying natural capital, ecosystem services, and nature-based solutions to real situations would be ideal but not essential, as would experience in developing proposals for funding or investment.
You can view a full list of requirements in the Job and Person Profile (docx). If you believe you can succeed in this role, apply. Even if you don't meet all requirements, still apply. We would appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.
The team
You will be working as part of a project team across both County Councils as well as through the Nature Recovery Partnership to deliver the LNRS. You will be working alongside knowledgeable and committed professionals within a supportive, learning environment. There will be opportunities to contribute to wider initiatives and programmes, particularly where potential synergies with this role exist. You will be able to set learning and development goals and be supported in achieving those.
