NDT Technician
Due to continued expansion, we're recruiting an experienced NDT Technician to carry out a variety of key tasks. Working within an experienced and established engineering workshop the successful candidate will be responsible for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities and aspects of Welding Inspection.
Job Duties:
- Perform all forms of in-house NDT such as Visual Inspection (VI), Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), Positive Material Identification (PMI) and Hardness Testing; before, during and after welding processes as required by the project.
- Preparing components and assemblies for sub-contract NDT.
- Perform inspection of fit-ups and tack-ups prior to welding of ejector components to ensure weld joint quality and tolerances are met in accordance with Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS’s) and engineering drawings.
- Ensure all quality documents related to NDT and Welding are completed and up to date [Inspection reports, NDT reports, Joint Control Sheets (JCS’s), Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s).
- Liaise closely with QA Manager, Workshop Manager, Works Inspector and Welders to oversee and inspect the manufacture of ejectors and associated components.
- Assist with various aspects of company ISO 3834-2 welding quality system such as consumable storage and welding machine maintenance, amongst others.
- Assist with production weld monitoring in accordance with Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS’s) and client specifications.
Requirements:
- PCN II &/or ASNT II in Visual Inspection (VI), Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI). Minimum of five years of experience, demonstrable by certification, in the method and technique.
- CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspection or equivalent (Training may be provided for the right candidate).
- Good communication skills on all levels.
- Proactive approach to work.
- Be able to read, understand, and follow engineering drawings and procedures and all Safety, Quality, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Knowledge of welding processes such as TIG/MMA/MAG/FCAW and equipment is desirable.
- Demonstrable experience within the piping/pressure vessel industry is desirable.
- Experience working with various grades of material i.e. Stainless steel, Low Temp. Carbon steel and Duplex is desirable.

The working hours are 06:55am - 15:25pm Monday to Thursday and 06:55am - 12:55pm on Fridays.
Salary: £18.00 - £20.00 per hour + overtime.
This is a Full time, Permanent position.
