The Post


As Administrator you will play a central role in supporting Scotland’s International Environment Centre to develop a series of events for a business audience. Liaising with internal and external providers you will ensure a coordinated and well-crafted series of events are organised throughout the programme.

The role holder will work closely with colleagues from all functional areas of RIBE (Research, Innovation &; Business Engagement Directorate) to identify opportunities. They will be primarily responsible for operational and administrative aspects of Project Beacon a series of NetZero support activities for SMEs in Stirling.

The role holder will support stakeholder focused communication and promotion of all events across the RIBE directorate. They will deliver a highly professional level of administration as the first point of contact for the project.

This hybrid role will be based primarily in Stirling at the University of Stirling’ campus and will work on an agile basis, including working away from the office as required to engage effectively with clients, partners and stakeholders.


Description of Duties

  • Support the Business Support Officer in the planning, enhancement and promotion of development events and other communications activities effectively, using a range of formats and a variety of different channels
  • Liaise effectively with internal and external speakers/providers of NetZero training and information
  • Maintain and coordinate all aspects of event delivery and support reporting outcomes
  • Maintain and manage the event booking system. Manage and organise room bookings including equipment, catering, AV and layout as required
  • Manage all associated financial transactions with any events/activities
  • To support the SIEC team in the production of training materials as required. Liaise and work with a variety of external professional partners regarding training provision
  • Gather and review event attendance and evaluation data
  • Manage and respond to enquiries, including management of a shared mailbox
  • Ensure that all activities are undertaken following the University’s branding, policies, procedures and regulations. Use the University’s corporate systems effectively and appropriately
  • Undertake such other duties as may be required, commensurate with the grade and nature of the role

Essential Criteria
  • Educated to HNC level or equivalent (where no formal qualifications are held, additional, relevant experience is required)
  • Sufficient experience working in a busy office
  • Experience of providing advice and guidance in response to customer enquiries. undefined
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of, and competence in using, a variety of IT systems including Microsoft Office and event management software
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines within a busy, demanding workload
  • Flexibility, reliability and punctuality

Desirable Criteria
  • Experience of managing events or projects in a business context
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the challenges faced by businesses in developing NetZero plans
  • Knowledge of or interest in climate change
