Job Title: Network and Systems Administrator

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000

ABOUT THE ROLE
A compelling opportunity has emerged as a result of sustained growth. This dynamic position entails a focus on networks and Systems within the IT department, contributing significantly to the implementation of diverse IT projects and ongoing IT change/improvement initiatives. Your primary responsibilities include leveraging your extensive networking expertise to contribute to the key architecture planning and implementation of these projects. In addition to project-related tasks, you will actively participate in day-to-day IT activities as part of the IT team.

In addition to internal projects, the role involves occasional external Network and Systems support, collaborating with customers as part of the team to offer consultancy on the deployment of products and services. Given the network-centric nature of products, this presents an exciting opportunity to engage with stimulating challenges. There will also be occasional involvement in third-line support of products at a networking and Systems integration level.

The ability to independently learn and develop, coupled with effective communication skills, is paramount for success in this role, as interaction with various business functions and departments is integral.

Reporting to the Head of IT & Security and working within a team of 2, with additional support available from the business when necessary.

Experience in ISO 27001, ISMS, and cybersecurity will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities
* Network Administration
- Contribution to the architecture and planning of internal IT projects from a networking perspective.
- Administration and maintenance of firewalls, switches, routers, IDS/IPS, WAPs, etc.
- Evaluation and research of emerging technologies for potential use within the business.

  • Systems & Security
    - Administration of Windows domain architecture (and servers), including Active Directory, O365 / AzureAD.
    - Administration and audit/review of user security permissions and groups as required.
    - Administration of internal database servers, permissions, and configurations.
    - Administration of backup systems and ensuring regular validation and testing of backups.
    - Administration of patch management systems to ensure systems are patched, tested, and scanned for vulnerabilities, with remediation as required.
    - Support for various IT systems and services to end-users as required.
    - Research, testing, and implementation of IT systems and services as part of IT projects.
    - Assistance in the planning for IT projects.
  • Product Support / Consultancy
    - Assistance in providing consultation services for product installation, deployment, and network architecture/design.
    - Support for product-related issues (3rd line).
  • Policy & Procedural
    - Assistance in creating and maintaining policies, procedures, and documentation as required.
    - Ensuring proper change control of configuration changes.
  • Operations
    - Assistance in monitoring security logs, network traffic, and system status.
    - Assistance in threat hunting.
    - Assistance in planning and executing exercises for cybersecurity breaches and disaster recovery/business continuity.
    - Assistance in the design, testing, and implementation of security and backup systems.

Technical Requirements
* Excellent knowledge of networking, including TCP/IP, routing protocols, layer 2 protocols (VLANS), Wireshark tracing, DHCP/DNS, 802.11, etc.
* Good knowledge of Windows architecture, including MS Active Directory/Group Policy, PowerShell, Office 365, and Azure AD administration & security.
* Working knowledge of Linux.
* Working knowledge of Veeam Backup software.
* Network+, Cisco CCNA, and CCNP or demonstrable networking abilities.
