Job description

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Support the Portfolio/Product team with new product creation including vendor selection, testing and development, to ensure technical product & service releases and enhancements are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Work closely with other internal teams to build and develop our product offering and customer credibility.
  • Develop and contribute to company-wide technology policies, practices, and standards.
  • Contribute to improving ways of working with the technology practices.
  • Collaborating in cross-functional teams across technical practices to develop cross-portfolio solutions.
  • Focus on service/technologies relating to Secure Digital Networks including but not limited to (SD)WAN, LAN, MPLS, Firewall, Security, VPN, WI-FI, Cellular.
  • Design and template standardised Network & Connectivity solutions that meet business requirements and ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Supporting the pre-sales process through advice, validation and design guidance. Including customer engagements, internal meetings and design sign-off ensuring that proposed solutions meet expectation, are deliverable and can be supported operationally.
  • Responsible and accountable for the technical data gathering and documentation in an agreed, shared location.
  • Support our continual service improvement by the review of solutions, systems and process to identify areas of improvement and where appropriate manage those improvements into implementation to ensure high quality, efficient and consistent delivery, right first time and on-budget.
  • Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
  • Facilitate training to enable greater self-sufficiency for peers, support staff and the solution architects.
  • Be familiar with industry innovations, trends and developments within the networking & Connectivity, security and VOIP field.
  • Comply with and help to enforce standard policies and procedures.
  • You will be required to work out of hours as required by a project or deployment and provide out of hours support via an on-call rotation.
Teams to collaborate with
  • Portfolio and Propositions - collaborate to provide engineering support for the Network & Connectivity Portfolio. Provide feedback to improve customer solutions. 
  • Solutions Architecture – support team with technical expertise to help underpin and translate client need and create a design proposal.  
  • Customer Experience and Managed Services – collaborate to ensure a smooth service transition from technical delivery into in-life support where required.

Essential:

  • Be highly motivated, pragmatic and energetic team player, positive, determined and driven with a can-do attitude fostering a ‘lead from the front’ ethos.
  • Be a self-starter with desire to learn new technologies and ways of working
  • Be an experienced technical lead and great communicator (oral and written) with the ability to gain trust, lead, present and\or document technical design or troubleshooting and deliver exceptional experience at both a technical and\or senior management level.
  • Demonstrated achievement within the delivery and technical operational support of complex IT solutions for large-sized clients (circa £500k annual revenues) in dedicated and multi-tenant environments.
  • Demonstrable experience of network principles, design methodologies and operation environments including the ability to make complex change via planning, risk assessment, scheduling and testing.
  • Experience in product and service design, including vendor selection and management, test and evaluation processes, beta customer evaluation and operational implementation through service transition.
  • Have in-depth experience (+5 years) working with the following technologies, in a build, deploy and support environment:
    • Routing - Cisco / Meraki / Fortinet/ Draytek
    • Switching - Cisco / Meraki / Fortinet
    • WI-FI - Cisco / Meraki / Fortinet / Draytek
    • VPN (Juniper / Ivanti / Cisco / Meraki / Fortinet)
    • Protocols and Technologies (IPSEC, SSL, ZTNA, SASE, BGP, OSPF, HSRP, VRRP, FGCP, VLAN, VXLAN, EVPN, STP, LAG, SNMP, Netflow, CAPWAP)
    • Management & Monitoring platforms(Draytek ACS, FortiManager, FortiAnalyser, Highlight, Solarwinds, Marki Cloud & Insight)
    • Relevant technical accreditation (CCNP, Fortinet Solution Specialist accreditation (NSE7) etc.)
  • Be able to Analyse, diagnose, design, plan, execute and evaluate work to time, cost and quality targets.
  • Thrive working in a highly pressurised environment in terms of volume and intensity of activity with the capability to deliver against goals as part of a team or as an individual.
  • Manage assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.
  • Will be required to look at new technology, process and systems. To understand the benefits they can bring to the team and support the successful implementation into working practices.
  • Provide training to develop team members through product knowledge, passion and commitment.
  • Have a computer and/or business related degree or substantial IT career experience with proven success.
In addition, the following are highly desirable:
  • Previous experience within a managed service provider, professional services or telecommunications environment.
  • Hands on experience with Voice technologies (Teams, Avaya, Cisco call Manager, Hipcom etc)
  • Have an understanding across cloud and security services/technologies: including but not limited to Azure, AWS, Load Balancing and Domain Names and DNS Management
  • Knowledge of PCI-DSS.
  • Additional technical and relevant non-technical qualifications

Position Summary The Network & Connectivity Delivery Architect will work in the Network & Connectivity Practice and will be responsible for designing and developing our offering in this space alongside the portfolio team. They will work on ensuring our solutions are engineered to the highest standards and that we have the tools and processes required to meet customer expectations. Additionally, the Network & Connectivity Delivery Architect will work with clients to understand their business needs and provide expert guidance on how to leverage our solutions to meet those needs. The Network & Connectivity Delivery Architect will work alongside the engineers in the team to modernise and deliver Network & Connectivity solutions to customers.    Objectives and Key Results Contribute to the target of 70% of services are scalable and repeatable. Ensure that products and services are engineered and delivered to the leading market standards, using where possible repeatable designs. Acting as a senior technical lead, providing analysis, feedback, advice and resolution to customer and internal identified issues. Development of improved ways of working to deliver improved team efficiencies and or enhanced customer experiences. Continually seeking opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships. Support of Product introduction and transition, documentation and in life escalation point. Identification and execution of improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Assistance in maintaining the team’s documentation including maintaining the team ISO 9000 page and ISO 27001 audits. Documenting technical and process lessons learned and share those lessons with team members to enable continuous improvement, consistency and excellence in quality.
