Network Engineer
Job Overview
Our client, a leading strategic project management company specializing in clean water asset services, is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join their team. This varied technical role is ideally suited for someone looking to be valued in a smaller yet rapidly growing company, providing opportunities to work across multiple projects for various clients. The Network Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting or acting on behalf of the Project Management Team to deliver key projects and contracts by applying specialist clean water knowledge of hydraulic principles and network modelling.
Key Responsibilities
* Propose and support the development of pressure and flow management schemes, presenting cost-benefit analyses of asset management schemes to the client.
* Review and analyse available sources of data to provide a concise and clear summary of findings, propose further investigations, and offer solutions.
* Use GIS for clean water network mapping and tracing applications, understanding and identifying asset information, tracing mains, district metered areas, permit to work info layer, and identifying customer impact.
* Identify anomalies within GIS, analyse information, and provide logical solutions for designing asset management solutions.
* Lead on the interrogation and analysis of logged data and use metering software.
* Monitor and report on missing and broken assets within the network, ensuring they are 'client ready' to assess criticality.
* Create comprehensive standard and complex risk mitigation plans and method statements (Permit to works) adhering to client standards and regulations.
* Regularly liaise with external stakeholders and clients, including Client Engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
* Act as the primary liaison between Project Managers and Network Analysts, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and shared knowledge across all teams.
* Plan and schedule work, optimizing field resources to deliver all work in line with key dates and redirecting resources when required.
* Create and track project work, ensuring all briefings are conducted and the project is HSEQ compliant according to company standards.
* Reporting: Track hours, project completions, and collate relevant information to deliver a client-ready comprehensive activity summary report and debriefing document.
* Provide in-field support on project delivery as required, such as probes, large isolations, and conduct routine compliance audits for client reassurance.
* Actively participate in the Health and Safety committee, taking responsibility for delivering HSEQ actions.
* Personally, line manage, including conducting annual and mid-year appraisals.
Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum of 5 years of industry experience or in a similar transferable role.
* Understanding of distribution and trunk main network operating principles.
* Understanding of hydraulic analysis using hydraulic modelling software.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification.
* Proficient use of Office365 and GIS.
* Knowledge of district metered area design and optimization is desirable.
* Practical hands-on industry or utility sector knowledge.
