Network Management SME

Stevenage

Do you have experience of Network Management systems and tools? Are you familiar with managing, configuring and monitoring event management and performance management tools such as VMware Smarts and IBM SevOne? We are looking for a senior Network Management Engineer, to join our existing dynamic Networks Practice. This is a fast-paced environment where you will have the chance to grow and build upon your existing knowledge and ability.

As an Network Management SME you will contribute to this by working with the Solution Owners, Service Delivery Managers and Project Managers to produce design documentation and implement the changes on a wide variety of Network Management tools.

Your role will involve working alongside a team of dedicated professionals, you will be driven to find better, faster, more effective solutions.

Your transferable skills and experience:

Core Skills:

•           Provide day to day support to the Project Managers and Service Delivery Managers to deliver the required Network Management system requirements within all work streams (Main Programme, Live Service, Service Requests and Requests for Change).

•           Support the Lead Architect in defining designs in line with requirements.

•           Good understanding of RedHat Enterprise Linux & subsequent network event management and network performance management tools, a standard MPLS network, Juniper SRX solution and Ethernet Access Links.

•           Experienced in troubleshooting technical issues and supporting the team and Support Engineers with delivery and operational challenges.

•           Ensure designs produced are fit for purpose and can go through review and governance. 

•           Provide input into reports, when required, to the Project Managers and/or Lead Architect.

•           Interest or experience in scripting languages such as, bash, perl, python, java

Experience:

•           Demonstrable design and configuration experience with Network Management systems including process development in line with service requirements.

•           Demonstrable troubleshooting skills and structured approach to defect resolution.

•           Strong technical knowledge of Network Management Systems, ideally with VMware SMARTS, VMware NCM, IBM SevOne, and Cisco ISE.

•           Database support experience in any of the following; postgress, mysql, mariadb

•           Experience in delivering solutions by Ansible

•           Understanding of networks including MPLS, Ethernet Access and Juniper technologies.

•           Solid understanding of customer end to end life cycle, with experience of testing phases and handover to Service.

•           Excellent communications skills (with different teams), team player, quick learner, able to take ownership and responsibility, and make quick decisions.

 

This role will require you to be eligible to undergo an SC Security Clearance
