The role:
We are looking for a Network Regulations Technician to work collaboratively as part of the Water Quality team responsible for Network Regulations.
The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations were introduced in 1999 to prevent misuse, waste, undue consumption or erroneous measurement of water. Most importantly, they are designed to prevent contamination of drinking water supplies.
As a function of Water Quality Services, Affinity Water’s Network Regulations Team enables the Company to fulfil its statutory duty of enforcing the regulations. This post, reporting to the Senior Network Regulations Technician, will play an important role in contributing to that work and keeping our drinking water safe.
This role requires a UK driving licence as you will be expected to travel across our central area and when required, to drive to other Affinity Water sites within our supply area.
What you'll be doing:
The key focus for your role will include visiting consumer premises, carrying out fittings inspections to ensure that installed plumbing systems are compliant, proactive engagement within the plumbing community to promote the fittings regulations and good practice, identifying risks to water quality and identifying any issues relating to the waste, undue consumption or misuse of our water.
What you'll need:
- Knowledge and understanding of the current Water Fittings and Water Quality Regulations (Essential)
- Previous experience of working in the water industry or as an approved plumber.
- The ability to demonstrate technical skills, the ability to diagnose and find faults effectively.
- This role will require you to work independently, organise your time appropriately and clearly articulate problems found with a high degree of precision.
- Experience of writing reports.
- To be IT literate in various software's - e.g. (Microsoft office packages)
- Full UK/Clean/Manual driving licence.
