Job description

The Faculty of Science is seeking a proactive, motivated individual to coordinate, implement, and deliver the Faculty of Science’s pilot Neurodivergent Employment Opportunities (NEO) Programme. The NEO Programme offers 10-month paid work placements in the Faculty of Science to neurodivergent adults.  The NEO Programme Coordinator will take particular responsibility for supporting placement holders and placement hosts to get the most out of the NEO Programme. This will include onboarding candidates, supporting reasonable adjustments, coordinating line manager training, liaison with parents/carers and external agencies, and taking an ongoing job coach role for programme participants.   The role holder will be required to plan and organise their own work activities with discretion to determine and change priorities as required. A consistently high degree of personal responsibility and initiative will be required to respond independently to queries and use judgement to deal with daily unforeseen problems and circumstances. This may also include resolving problems involving other schools/departments or external contacts. We are seeking candidates with knowledge and experience of supporting neurodivergent individuals in a professional or educational context, who take a compassionate and reflective approach to their work. Don’t meet every single requirement? We encourage you to apply anyway as we know that a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace is not only a better place to work but also produces higher-quality solutions. If you are excited by the opportunities of this role, but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every requirement, you should still apply; you may be just the right candidate. This is a fixed-term position, available for 12 months. Hours of work are part time (21.75 hours per week); a working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role. Informal enquiries may be addressed to Helena French at helena.french@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted. Further details: Our university is a supportive, inclusive, caring and positive community. We welcome those of different cultures, ethnicities and beliefs – indeed this very diversity is vital to our success, it is fundamental to our values and enriches life on campus. We welcome applications from UK, Europe and from across the globe and we want to make your transition to living in the UK as smooth as possible. Visit the Moving to Nottingham page to find out more. Your application will be considered on an equal basis, subject to the relevant permission to work in the UK as set out by UK Visas & Immigration.
