Post No. SS1273 - Night Care Officer

Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people within residential care? This is an exciting opportunity to join Newport City Council’s residential service. We are looking for staff who have the right values, motivation and commitment to work in this rewarding yet challenging role. You will become part of a team providing a stimulating, nurturing environment to enable our children to reach their full potential.

We are recruiting a Night Care Officer to work at one of our homes. You will work a 34-hour contract with shifts that run 22.45 till 08.15am on a 2-week rota with the option for additional hours to be taken on. Our service runs 365 days a year, 24 hour a day and you will be required to work weekends and bank holidays.

We offer an excellent induction and training package, including supporting you to attain a level 3 qualification in working with Children and Young people, if you do not already have this. We also provide training and support to enable you to work in a trauma & attachment focussed way and provide children with the much-needed support, and the opportunity for you to be able to build a healthy & positive relationship, which can result in you, having the biggest and most rewarding impact on the child’s life.

We welcome applications for all our jobs in either Welsh or English

Newport City Council is committed to working towards its workforce being more representative of the population that we serve and particularly welcomes applications from people from the minority ethnic communities represented (or living) in the city.
