SalaryThe Washington Guest House are looking for a Night Porter to join their team on a part time basis - working 18 hours a week over two 9 hour shifts on Friday and Saturday evenings each week (though overtime to cover holiday etc. is often available).
Key information for the Night Porter role:
Hours: Part time - 18 hours per week, working on Friday and Saturday nights (9 hours per night). Overtime is available on occasion.
Salary: £13.20 per hour and £15 per hour cover rate (for any hours worked above contracted hours)
A typical week!Night Porter shifts start at 10:00pm, and finish at 7:00am. Based at the Washington, in this particular position you will be consistently working Friday and Saturday nights.

About our ideal Night Porter:
We are looking for a friendly and personable individual with a can-do attitude and customer service experience who can remain calm under pressure and can provide our guests with the 'home from home' welcoming service that we are known for, as well as providing a sense of security for guests overnight. Due to the nature of the role, flexibility and the ability to react at late notice would be helpful. You will also need to have a good understanding of English.
What youll be doing as Night Porter:
Reporting to the Hotel Assistant Manager and Hotel Manager, our Night Porter will be involved in the following:
- Security of the hotel overnight
- Providing a first point of contact for our guests - responding to any needs they may have
- Checking in and out guests
- Taking payments from our guests and looking after all cash over your shift
- Selling rooms
- Problem solving - knowing when to escalate to management and how to communicate solutions to guests effectively.
This position will involve working on your own, so you will need good time management and the ability to make decisions.
