Role Overview
Reporting to the Port Manager you will be responsible for the security of the pier buildings and vessels connected to the port, for the call-out of crew in the event of an emergency or bad weather, overseeing a telephone watch in case of emergency call-outs by Fire, Police and Ambulance, monitoring and adjusting the gangway as necessary to maintain a safe access to the vessels. The successful candidate will be required to work ten-hour shifts. You are expected to have a flexible approach to working as the shift pattern will be variable and dependant on local circumstances. You must be customer focused, have a clear understanding of the customer interface, and have a proactive approach to customer care.
Functional Responsibilities/Key Tasks
- The security of pier buildings and vessels
- Maintaining a telephone watch in case of emergency call-outs by Fire, Police and Ambulance
- Call-out of crew in the event of an emergency or bad weather which would require the ferries to leave port for more sheltered conditions.
- Any other duties required by the Port Manager
