Job description

Faculty of Health and Life Sciences

The role

We are seeking to appoint an Experimental Medicine Officer, to drive the expansion of the clinical research portfolio for the highly successful NIHR Exeter Clinical Research Facility (Exeter CRF), forming part of the newly established Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at the University of Exeter.

The NIHR Exeter CRF is a partnership between the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (Royal Devon) and the University of Exeter. The NIHR Exeter CRF supports and conducts Experimental Medicine studies (studies which investigate the mechanisms underlying diseases) and early phase clinical trials. The Clinical Research Facility comprises a purpose-built unit within the Research Innovation Learning & Development (RILD) Building and the adjacent Vascular Research building at the Royal Devon and houses ‘research dedicated’ nurses, scientists, doctors and support staff, sample handling laboratories and specialist equipment.

The postholder will be experienced in working in clinical research across multi-disciplinary teams and will work with the NHS Research and Development teams and partners both internally and externally to build capacity and facilitate projects. You will actively advocate the capabilities of the CRF to ensure collaborative and long-lasting relationships that result in quality research outcomes and improvements to patient care.

As well as supporting the day to day running and operational strategy of the CRF, the Experimental Medicine Officer will be responsible for monitoring project activities and capturing evidence of outputs for reporting internally and externally. The postholder will work closely with the NIHR Exeter BRC COO (Home >NIHR Exeter BRC) to ensure reporting is accurate and consolidated.
