Are you passionate about advancing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education and shaping the future of our workforce? STEM Learning, the largest UK provider of STEM education and career support, is seeking an exceptional individual with education expertise to serve as a Non-Executive Board member of the Board of Directors. As a Board member, you will play a pivotal role in driving our transformation and ensuring our long-term sustainability to improve lives through STEM education.
STEM Learning Ltd is a not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to empower young people with the skills and knowledge to thrive through effective teaching and learning. Our goals are to improve teaching, enrich learning and build the UK talent pipeline through three key strands of activities: teacher Continuous Professional Development (CPD), the STEM Ambassador scheme and student-facing activities such as mentoring and work placements.
STEM Learning Ltd is now looking to strengthen its board to provide the support and challenge necessary to ensure the organisation can achieve its vision, including through strong education leadership and pedagogy expertise.
The role of Non-Executive Director supports the development of the organisation in terms of delivery, reach and helping to influence the wider environment, including policy. Board members are expected to attend three formal meetings a year (held at the National STEM Learning Centre in York or in London). Additionally, Board Members are invited to contribute via email, telephone and video conference at various times during the year and to attend a number of STEM Learning events. Independent Non-Executive Directors will be appointed in a personal capacity for a fixed three-year term, with an option to extend for a further three years.
STEM Learning Ltd was established in 2004 by a University Consortium, comprising the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam and York. All four Universities continue to be equal (25%) shareholders, each with a representative on the STEM Learning Ltd Board.
