Our client based in Wellingborough require an NPD Technologist to join their busy team to assist in the development of new products to the market.
General Responsibilities:
- Complete assigned projects & tasks efficiently & within allocated timescales.
- Highlight risks & assistance requirements & propose solutions.
- Compliance with and promotion of all employment, health and safety, data protection, food safety / quality and customer / industry standards.
- Operate as an effective member of the team, offering support and constructive critique as appropriate, sharing knowledge & assisting in the development of departmental systems.
- Operate with a strong customer service ethos in order to exceed internal and external customer expectations.
- Agreeing, reviewing and reporting regularly against key task areas.
- Assist with holiday / sickness cover where necessary and provide support during busy periods when business critical.
- Ad hoc tasks and projects identified by the New Product Development Manager as aligned with evolving business priorities.
- Assist with Online presence and content generation.
- Test and develop recipes for inclusion of pulse flours/kibbles.
- Create a database to include current information on competitor products including key attributes - Pricing, Specification, Attributes & claims, Packaging, Volume, Sectors (e.g., bakery, meat-free etc).
- Sourcing raw materials from existing and new suppliers (samples, price, MOQ, lead time, agree specifications etc)
- All records to be kept up to date, accurate & stored within the secure department file structure in an audit ready format.
Person Specification:
- Educated to Degree level in Food science or related subject.
- Exhibit effective presentation & report-writing skills, the ability to draft accurate complex correspondence to project stakeholders from within & outside of the business.
- Ability to work independently & as part of the wider team, sharing knowledge & adapting to an ever-evolving role.
- Ability to use initiative & be pro-active whilst developing the product range.
- The ability to converse with a diverse range of people at all levels both verbally & written.
- Provide a good standard of service to project stakeholders, whether internal or external. Ensuring accurate information is available to meet established timescales.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude in all aspects of the role.
- Have an enthusiastic approach to change as the role, products & business evolves.
- Exhibit effective time management & organisational skills.
- IT literate - Microsoft office suite.
- Maintain trust and confidentiality.
- Full UK driving license.
