FUNCTIONAL ASSESSOR ROLE:
Assess functional limitations caused by health concerns via phone, video, or face-to-face consultations.
Produce accurate reports aiding Department for Work and Pensions' benefit eligibility decisions.
Maintain high professional standards, engage in CPD, and collaborate within a supportive team environment.
You will need to be efficient in time management to ensure you can ensure your PIP assessment reports are promptly submitted whilst meeting the stringent quality measures required by the DWP and PIP claimants.
DAY IN THE LIFE:
Working on site: You will meet the rest of the team first thing via an online meeting, and prepare for your first PIP Assessment case in the consultation room, you will have 3 or 4 appointments per day in the diary for example at 09:00, 11:00, 13:30, and 15:30. Appointments will be a mix of face to face and via telephone or video link. For face to face appointments you will collect your patient from the waiting room, and conduct your verbal functional assessment in the consultation room running through PIP paperwork, the further medical evidence provided and noting what is said. You will be typing notes as you go through the sections of a PIP claim and once the appointment has finished, make sure the report is complete and submit to the DWP case manager. In the office you will have the opportunity for working with your Clinical Support Lead, and others in the team should you have any shadowing or learning sessions booked in, as well as working on any case questions, preparations or other work required.
Working from home: You will meet colleagues online first thing via an online meeting and similarly to the on-site days, prepare and work on your 3 or 4 cases scheduled in the diary. You will meet your patients online via a video link or telephone, and conduct your verbal functional assessment running through PIP paperwork, the further medical evidence provided and noting what is said. You will be typing notes as you go through the sections of a PIP claim and once the appointment has finished, make sure the report is complete and submit to the DWP case manager. Support will be via online messaging and telephone to your clinical support leads, and colleagues within the wider team.
