Job description

Are you a qualified or experienced Nursery Assistant? Do you have child care experience specifically with children aged 0-5 years? An understanding of phonics or the EYFS frame work? Due to an exceptional demand for qualified Nursery staff in the Thornton Cleveley's area I am seeking both adhoc and long term staff to support our early years provisions which are attached to Primary settings, these are not independent nurseries, instead these are EYFS provisions within schools who treat these teams and pupils as their own. These settings currently require short term and long term staffing support from February 2024.

Your application will be concentrated at the relevant nursery/school based on the role of your choosing that is best suited to your availability, qualifications, experience and commute. I.e long term roles which exceed six weeks support or short term / Adhoc day to day work. Pay starts at £12 per hour dependant on qualifications and experience. Your working day will be 8:30-3:30, 6.5 hours with a 30 minute unpaid lunch. 5 days work or less are available. This is also a fantastic opportunity to progress within a school to Reception or other year groups.

With regards to the role, a suitable candidate will be qualified with either of the following:

  • CACHE Certificate in Child Care and Education Level 2
  • City & Guilds or BTEC Certificate in Children's Care, Learning and Development
  • NVQ Children's Care, Learning and Development Level 2

As an early years educator you will need to be the type of individual who can be animated, fun, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, show initiative and respond to a fast paced environment. You will also need to cater to varied learning styles and support the development of each pupil academically and with their own personal development and understanding of the world. A typical day will include, phonics and numbers, outdoor play, sensory and animated activities, outdoor learning, singing and plenty of gluing and sticking!

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of resources and activities for whole class, 1:1 and small group support.
  • Collaborate with classroom teacher to organise appropriate activities.
  • Liaise with other professionals such as Teacher's, TA, specialist support staff.
  • Work closely with other LSAs and support staff.
  • Work with classes, small groups and with children on a one to one basis.
  • Monitor and track the development of the pupil In question and support personal development and confidence.


Essential requirements

  • Experience of working with young people.
  • Be comfortable and confident in managing challenging behaviours.
  • Ability to engage with, and build rapport with young people.
  • Be creative, proactive and flexible in their supporting style.
  • Have experience with SEN or knowledge learning difficulties.
  • TA qualified.
