This is an opportunity for an experienced midwife sonographer / sonographer to apply for the position of Obstetric Lead Sonographer at RCHT
The successful person will be responsible for line management of the team and the delivery of the Obstetric Ultrasound service, working closely with the midwifery teams, and the Non-Obstetric Lead Sonographer and associated teams
They will also continue to work clinically with the ring fenced time to perform the administration element of this role

Responsible for the operational running and budgetary management of the Obstetric Ultrasound service, ensuring that service delivery is optimised within the resources available, to manage those resources effectively and endeavour to match resources to clinical demand.
To play a lead role in the strategic planning of the Obstetric Ultrasound service within RCHTs. and to work closely with the midwifery service and clinical imaging sonography teams to deliver the obstetric scanning pathways
Participate in general management of the Obstetric department and assist other Directorates in the appointment of ultrasound Practitioners – Midwife Sonographers and Trainees.
Responsible for the management and delivery of the Obstetric Ultrasound service for RCHT and community sites.
Responsible for the management of the Obstetric Ultrasound service and to ensure the service provided meets the standards set down by NHS England for the national Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme. To collaborate closely with the Heads of Midwifery, the Fetal Medicine department, and Midwife Sonographer and sonographer colleagues to ensure seamless delivery of Obstetric Ultrasound services across the multidisciplinary team. To lead with this team in the workforce planning, strategic development, and training of future Obstetric Sonographers from suitable Healthcare Professions.
Manage a team of specialist sonographers and be responsible for the team’s health, safety, and staff development.
Responsible for managing and prioritising workload within the department and ensure the rotation of work is allocated in a fair and even manner.
Investigate any complaints from patients, staff or visitors relating to the Obstetric Ultrasound department and provide incident report / feedback to the appropriate Trust authority and any Ultrasound staff involved.
To work as a specialist sonographer in obstetric ultrasound and act as a source of expertise to other members of the multidisciplinary team.
To supervise the Training Link Sonographer in the appointment, training, and assessment of Trainee Sonographers
Work across professional boundaries as part of a multi-disciplinary team to improve patient outcomes.
To have a leading role in managing Ultrasound equipment across the Trust and act as a source of specialist knowledge for the Imaging Service Lead in the appointment and management of an appropriate manufacturer to run a Managed Equipment Service for Ultrasound units within the Trust.
