Occupational Health Advisor

We are currently searching for a Qualified Occupational Health Advisor to join our team in Southampton. This position will be a mix of medicals and case management, including referrals. Including conducting professional health surveillance, perform safety critical medicals, screening, DSE Assessments, and health promotion/wellbeing services.

This position will be onsite, and we can be somewhat flexible with the hours or days worked per week. This role will take part in health surveillance and screening programs for both workers and contractors, in accordance with HSE standards and Medical Standards, such as, but not limited to:

• Drivers Medicals
• Drug and Alcohol Testing
• Spirometry
• Audiometry
• HAVs Tier 1-2
• Skin Surveillance
• Safety Critical Medicals

About The Role
How will you contribute:

• To undertake pre-employment health assessments and health questionnaires, DSE desk assessments and carry out periodic safety critical medicals and health surveillance.
• To communicate results of assessments, i.e., fitness to work to HR following policy and procedures.
• Communicate any follow up appointments and further actions for anything that falls outside of normal parameters with the Occupational Health Nurse and Medical Secretary
• To assist in the updating and maintenance of the computerised Occupational Health recording system including the recording of clinical outcomes and test results.
• To run health promotion and wellbeing campaigns, including the Flu vaccine programme.
• To be responsible for the safe use and maintenance of equipment; including regular verification of the spirometer and audiometer
• To comply with the registration requirements of the NMC and work within the scope of the NMC Professional Practice and Code of Conduct.
• To maintain medical confidentiality and work within the GDPR.
• To participate in audits as appropriate.

What will you Bring.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

• Registered General Nurse (NMC Registered)
• Minimum of 3 years post registration experience
• Previous experience working within an Occupational Health setting is essential
• Previous experience working as an OH Nurse in an internal OH department would be advantageous.
• Experience working in an operational or safety critical environment would be advantageous.
• Experience with Spirometry and Audiometry
• Evidence of CPD
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Proficient with all Microsoft applicants and system savvy
