We’re delighted to advertise a fantastic opportunity for an Occupational Health Advisor to join our wonderful in-house Occupational Health team. The role is part-time 3 days a week on site at Forest Gate (2 days) and Dagenham (1 day) with working hours to fit around you; whether that’s 7am to 3pm or 3pm to 11pm!

 

As part of our Occupational Health team, you’ll work closely with our HR and HSE teams. You’ll be passionate about wellbeing and enjoy building strong relationships with all our colleagues; bringing a positive, encouraging and people-centric approach to your work. You’ll enjoying working as a health and wellbeing ambassador within our business, thrive on working autonomously and proactively supporting in all aspects of Occupational Health.

 

 

The role: 

 

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Health and Wellbeing Specialist  to join the team. We are looking for someone with expert knowledge and experience gained in the Occupational Health arena.  The Occupational Health and Wellbeing Specialist will provide a quality service that protects, promotes and enhances the health and wellbeing of all colleagues at Hovis. 

 

Working with the HR, EH&S and the Operations teams, some of the key accountabilities include: 

  

  • Working closely with the Head of HR and Head of EH&S, be responsible for the development and execution of a Hovis Health and Wellbeing Strategy, periodically reviewed to ensure it is effective, fit for purpose and relevant. 

  • Provide line management and support to  the Occupational Health Advisers within the business to ensure adherence to the role, compliance, legislation and standards, and identifying and monitoring areas of improvement or development required. 

  • Working collaboratively with all functions, take an active approach in managing absence and advise on observed specific trends from this data, liaising closely with HR. 

  • Own and maintain Health and Wellbeing communications, ensuring that up-to-date, relevant and engaging content is available for colleagues to access 

  • Working collaboratively with the sites, OHA’s and Health and Safety, ensure the planning, roll out and completion of Health Surveillance is achieved in line with legislation. 

 

Ideal Experiences / Qualifications / Capabilities: 

 

Essential:

 

  • Registered General Nurse and Degree in Occupational Health 

  • At least five years experience in providing Occupational Health Services 

  • Designing health promotion strategies and campaigns and proven results 

  • Health surveillance/ screening 

  • Clinical competence (diagnosis, treatment and first aid) 

  • Health assessment (pre-employment and post-sickness) 

  • Rehabilitation and resettlement 

  • Identification of the OH needs of the site 

  • Data collection and trend identification 

  • Time management 

  • Co-operation and team-working 

  • Report-writing 

  • IT literate – be proficient in the use of MS Office applications – Word, Excel, Powerpoint. 

  • People management 

  • Business acumen 

 

Desirable: 

 

  • Counseling and listening skills 

  • Vaccination administration 

  • Presentation skills 

  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation
