- provision of counselling and other mental health support services for staff, including psychological support in urgent/crisis situations
- signposting and referring staff to other staff support services as appropriate
- participating in audit initiatives and quality measuring systems
- assisting with the promotion of services available to staff
- working within the guidelines of SCoPEd and the BACP Ethical Framework 2022
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in 2018, extension of a Neonatal Unit and brand new, and a state of the art Emergency Department was completed February 2023.

Working as part of the Occupational Health & Wellbeing Team the post holder will be jointly responsible for the delivery of mental health support services for staff. The post holder will be based at Walsall Occupational Health Department for the majority of the working week but will attend the Walsall Palliative Care Centre to deliver support to staff working in this community setting. The post holder will develop and provide a counselling and staff support service by the way of the following: -
- In-person counselling from a base at the Occupational Health & Wellbeing Service.
- Staff support / supervision / reflective practice facilitation to our Specialist
- Contribute to crisis intervention support as part of the wider Occupational Health & Wellbeing Team
- Developing other relevant forms of support as appropriate, in liaison with the other members of the Team.
- The post will be Line Managed by the Specialist Palliative and End of Life Bereavement Team Manager.
