As the Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will support the provision of occupational therapy regarding assessment, treatment and evaluation with the aim to improve patients’ quality of life, support them with their activities of daily living and enhance problem solving. You will work within a Trauma Informed Care approach and will develop bespoke plans to patients with different levels of sensory, communication and emotional needs to avoid re-traumatization within the prison environment. In this role, you will support the provision of occupational therapy through assessment, treatment and evaluation.

Working under the supervision and guidance of the Occupational Therapist you will provide accurate verbal and written reports as necessary, establish good communication with colleagues in the healthcare team, prison and external agencies. As well as support the evaluation f interventions and gather data for use at quality review meetings.

What you'll be doing

You will have an NVQ L2 in care or equivalent and experience of working therapeutically within adult mental health forensic setting

You’ll receive an annual salary up to £29,400 per annum - dependent on experience.

What we’ll look for in you

HM Prison Thameside is a local category B resettlement prison in the Thamesmead area of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, South-East London and is situated next to HMP Belmarsh. HMP Thameside is London’s only private prison and can currently hold 1232 convicted and remand male prisoners.
