  • Occupational Therapy Qualification and registration with HCPC
  • Driving Licence – You must always hold a full valid driving licence  
  • Essential Car Documentation- This post is a designated Essential Car User. Therefore, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work. You will receive the Essential Car User Allowance.  
  • DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Information provided by you or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice which can be viewed here. An exciting opportunity has arisen within adult social care for an Occupational Therapist (OT) to work in the Moving and Handling Team

The post holder should have experience in equipment and adaptations, and have the ability to risk assess and implement moving and handling solutions for carers and family members

The key functions of the role include complex assessment for the provision of equipment and major adaptations, moving and handling assessments to enable people to live as independently as possible within their own homes, and provision of assistive technology, equipment, and minor and major adaptations. The role holder will provide moving and handling training to families and carers as required.

The role holder will:
  • Provide a comprehensive and streamlined service to citizens, to maximise independence, choice, safety and quality of life.
  • Work closely with Health, Care agencies, families and key stakeholders to ensure delivery of a cohesive, efficient and cost effective service.
  • Have supervisory responsibilities including informal and formal supervision of staff within the team.
  • Be responsible for monitoring work coming into the team, allocation of work and completion of reports as requested by Senior Managers.
