We're looking for someone to join EMR as a Office 365 Engineer based at our Derby office
About the role
This is an exciting time to join a business that values and invests in IT. We’re looking for a customer-focussed SharePoint and Office 365 developer to provide a reliable and flexible support service as part of EMR’s evolving Digital Workplace Strategy.
You’ll be passionate about driving the adoption of SharePoint and Office 365 solutions and the continuous improvement of sites and applications using new technologies. Working collaboratively with end user customers and vendors, you will provide guidance, training and insight to the business to help EMR get the best from delivered 365 services.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Maintaining and evaluating existing solutions, implementing strong supporting governance and providing ideas for improvement
- Keeping up to date with new practices in Microsoft APIs and platforms
- Carrying out support, installation and maintenance activities to cloud provided services, implementing custom solutions to meet business requirements, including:
- Building custom business applications with out-of-the-box features, extending with custom scripts and coded applications
- SharePoint-based solutions for Collaboration portals, Enterprise Content Management, Workflows and Enterprise Search
- Planning content types and deploying custom lists and libraries.
- Developing, deploying and maintaining client side rendering scripts and SPFx components.
- Authoring and executing PowerShell scripts
- Reviewing, implementing and maintaining search services
- Implementing designed solutions including testing and standard documentation, providing ongoing guidance and support
- Responding to support requests to resolve operational problems within IT Service Level Agreements
- Investigating technical problems and faults in cloud provided services, liaising with vendor support to understand root causes and find resolutions
About you
You will be an experienced ‘hands-on’ SharePoint developer, with proven experience creating SharePoint features and solutions. With your knowledge of Microsoft Cloud Technologies, including Office 365, you will be able to perform support in a Windows environment. You will also have an understanding of:
- Best practice information architecture, managed metadata, content types, enterprise search, custom refiners, and search-driven applications
- Virtualisation technologies, including Azure

Experience with Azure (VMs, App Services, Hybrid Connections) and Office 365 development would be an advantage.

EMR has a hybrid working policy which is applicable for this role. This means the role can be based at home 2-3 days per week and on site 2-3 days per week. Should you wish to work full time on-site this is also an option.
