About the role:

Location: Boyndie, Aberdeenshire

Hours: Full Time - 40 hours per week

Thanks to an internal promotion, Motive are now looking to hire an Onsite Inspector as part of our Certification & Inspection team, to be based from our site in Boyndie, Aberdeenshire.

The Onsite Inspector will be responsible for carrying out routine NDT work covering all aspects of individual components to periodic surveys utilising all NDT and Inspection methods and equipment as required. You will commission and operate equipment in a competent and professional manner, communicating effectively with the client and relevant Motive Offshore Group departments.

This role will also be required to travel to customer sites to perform inspection services as and when required, in a safe, competent and professional manner, while working side-by-side with the client & Motive Offshore Group departments. This role may include offshore travel as and when required.

You’ll be joining team, which has grown significantly over the past six years since it became part of the Motive brand, and is now a mainstay in what we offer our clients. And it continues to expand. Reporting into Linzi, our Certification & Inspection Manager, you’ll be working alongside a team that covers off the technical aspects of projects offshore and all over the world, along with a dedicated team behind the scenes who make sure the operations of this department run smoothly, safely and with a smile.

Responsibilities:

  • Adopting the Motive Offshore Group People Values and ensuring their use is embedded throughout day-to-day tasks and decision making.
  • Service, repair & inspect Lifting Equipment on customer sites & the companies workshop.
  • Provide recommendations for repairs, replacements or maintenance activities based on inspection findings
  • Maintain accurate and detailed inspection reports for compliance purposes.
  • Collaborate to ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
  • Carry out various NDT inspections as per requirements.
  • Carry out proof load testing utilising waterbags/clump weights as per requirements.
  • Carry out routine surveys, inspections and load testing of Lifting equipment and their accessories and the immediate reporting of defects or concerns.
  • Where qualified, assist with spooling activities such as wire rope and ROV cable removal, change out and installations.
  • Where qualified, carry out visual and NDT examination of all types and construction of high-performance wire rope.
  • Where qualified, carry out pressure lubrication of all types of high-performance wire ropes in accordance with working procedures and COSHH Assessments.
  • Lead, coach and mentor workshop team members, including Trainees, when required.
  • Ensure proper assignment of equipment on arrival at worksite, communicating any anomalies and or damage to the client and Line Manager.
  • Operate equipment as per instructions, ensuring all daily checks and paperwork are completed.
  • Complete Daily Client Service Record forms in full, with accurate times and descriptions obtaining signed approval from the client.
  • Demobilise equipment at the worksite and prepare for shipping, completing any necessary cargo manifests.
  • Undertake general workshop duties as and when required.
  • Liaise with Operations Team to confirm project deliverables.
  • Proper set up of equipment, calibration and interpretation of graphs
  • Use of Kinetic Software to produce good quality inspection reports ready to send to customers
  • Adherence to client safe working practices and quality assurance systems.


Required skills / knowledge:


  • Suitable NDT certification (SNT or PCN Level II).
  • LEEA certification
  • Valid offshore certification.
  • Experience operating machinery.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritise
  • Good communication skills.
