The job that is on offer will need you to be available 5 days a week, Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30am till 3:30pm, with the position being to start as soon as possible until the close of the spring term, March 2024 with potential extension until July 2024. The school itself consists of a 40% SEN student populace. This means that qualified and experienced staff are needed to join the team with prior SEN experience ideally. The aim and mission is to produce kind, well mannered, focused and driven students that are evidently striving to achieve their full potential academically and socially within their time in education.
The role would require that you work alongside the class teacher in conjunction with lesson plans and activities that have been planned either by them or between one another. Identifying triggers and behavioural needs that the child may need support with. Working to IEP's (Individual Educational Plans) that would be worked towards either by yourself with the child or between you and the class teacher depending on the requirements. Lunch times or breaks would need you to complete 30 mins cover on playground or lunch duty with a 30 minute break for yourself.

Someone who can implement activities and exercises in a way that is fun and generate a sense of interest for the child to relate to their learning through their likes and interests.

The duties and responsibilities of this role will be as follows:
- Reading, writing and SPAG support.
- Adjusting or breaking down activities to support participation and understanding.
- Develop a supportive relationship with the children that promotes self esteem and confidence.
- To develop knowledge and understanding of the specific academic, physical, emotional and behavioural needs of the child and respond to them effectively.
- To liaise with the Teachers and SENCO about the development and support needed at home and in school for the children.
- Monitor and maintain records of the pupils progress.
- To assist with general school duties which may include setting up classrooms, preparing resources and displays and tidying and clearing away
- Supervision of children during lunch times and Supervision of children entering and leaving school premises.
Essential Requirements:
- Knowledge of development matters
- Must be an outgoing individual with an ability to engage with pupils and keep them motivated
- Must be able to work collaboratively and competently within a team
- Must have childcare Level 2 or above.
- An understanding of SEN or learning needs.
- Knowledge of the new KS1 curriculum.
