REED are delighted to support our client who wishes to recruit an experienced Operations Manager to oversee daily activities in Food Manufacturing. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a highly successful high-profile business with a reputation for excellence.

We are looking for the ideal candidate with:

A sharp business mind and proven success in managing a multiple department in a food production facility for maximum productivity.

Be highly skilled in human resource management, with extensive knowledge of ERP and MRP systems, have strong fiscal management, is an initiative-taker and able to develop and maintain an environment of trust, diversity, and inclusion within the operations team.

Must have an inspiring personality and can demonstrate the ability to build and develop teams. With a natural ability to lead, combined with a self-assured modesty we are looking for a champion not a hero with a hands-on approach to Operational Management.

Objectives of this role:

  • Develop operational systems to improve productivity and service to customers.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement across operations.
  • Develop self and team in line with company business requirements.
  • Increase the efficiency of existing processes and procedures to enhance the company’s internal capacity.
  • Ensure operational planning meetings existing and future business demand and to ensure activities remain on time and within budget.
  • Build high performance operational team.
  • Management of staffing levels in line with budgetary and demand requirements.
  • Manage staffing rosters, weekly payments, and holidays of operation team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, motivate, and support a large team within a time sensitive and demanding environment, including Performance Development Plans for direct reports and problem resolution.
  • Pro-actively manage health and safety of operations.
  • Lead and drive standards of quality, food safety, hygiene, and housekeeping through Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Manage the training and development of operations team.
  • Lead operations continuous improvement projects, through sponsorship and mentoring to achieve desired outcome.
  • Introduce KPI’s to drive performance.
  • Support company values to ensure a positive culture that fosters good employee relationships.
  • Develop skills matrix across operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years proven success in an operations management role.
  • Firsthand knowledge of ERP and MRP systems
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in operations management or related field.
  • Understands Retailer and BRC Food Manufacturing requirements and has led teams to achieve Grade A or above.
  • Strong IT Skills, including database development.
  • Experience in financial budgetary processes.
