Are you an experienced Oracle Database Developer Are you keen to work on software supporting solutions within the Aerospace and Defence sector? If so, the following role could be for you….

My client based in Gloucester has an exciting opportunity for a software developer to work on a wide variety of Defence, Cyber and Intelligence programmes.

Initially focused on delivering bespoke leading edge software solutions to our Cyber and Intelligence customers, this role will be part of a DevSecOps team responsible for delivering software changes and enhancements to Programmes across the RMS portfolio.

This role is offered on a 4 day working week basis !

You will be responsible for:

  • Contributing to architecture design, and develop software to critical security systems
  • Bringing your imaginative, creative thinking and problem solving skills to the team and contribute your ideas to ensure we deliver innovation to our customers
  • Researching new technologies for use and adaptation in programmes and R&D projects
  • Taking requirements and transforming them into appropriate software design and code
  • Identifying and employing suitable software modelling and development tools and techniques
  • Investigating issues arising in production systems or during testing and to provide solutions
  • Collaborating with your colleagues and manage your time effectively to support requirements capture and testing of software, and to ensure an integrated approach to meet cost and schedule targets
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients across all levels of the organisation both internally and with the customer
  • Supporting customer demonstrations of current change work as it is developed

You will have:

  • A solid knowledge of Agile software development, Oracle Database development, and an understanding of Java and the software development lifecycle is required.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps tools and processes (desirable)
  • Natural curiosity and imaginative problem solving skill
  • Proven skills in software design and development, preferably using Java (J2EE) and/or JavaScript
  • Experience of working using Agile development principles and methods
  • Confidence and ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences on sometimes complex issues
