This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) post with flexible working hours, fixed for 3 years, with a salary of £25,557 per annum (Salary Band A6).We are seeking to appoint someone who can join the ongoing work of the congregation in reaching the local community for Christ in Newtownabbey, with a focus on reaching children and families. The role has very flexible, family friendly hours, but includes some evening and weekend work.Part of the role aims to continue and develop schools work with children from the two local Primary Schools and connecting them with Childrens’ ministry in Abbots Cross Presbyterian. The partnership with these schools has developed over the last number of years and would look to build on that work by providing quality Religious Education lessons in the classroom setting across multiple primary school year groups using the SU syllabus. The person in this role would also have primary responsibility to help shape and co-ordinate our junior youth club on Saturday evenings and be part of the worshiping community of families in ACPC on Sunday mornings including how our children’s ministry (kidszone and minizone ) is run. It is envisaged that the person in this role will be the key person in connecting the work in schools with children’s ministry in Abbots Cross.Alongside this key focus of children’s ministry we are looking for someone with the drive and motivation to slowly develop a ministry to mums with pre-school children and to be a pastoral support and befriender in the established ministries of ACPC. .

A minimum of 5 GCSEs (at least grade C) including Maths and English.Knowledge of, and respect for, the ethos, practice, structure and doctrinal position of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.A qualification in Religious Education of at least grade C at A-level, or evidence of appropriate theological training.Experience of delivering gospel presentations to children.Experience of coordinating, developing and leading a team of volunteers.Experience of personal evangelism in small group settings.A full list of Essential Skills is available upon request. , Knowledge of the landscape of Religious Education teaching in NI schools and a vision to set out the church's beliefs clearly within this setting.Degree in Theology or Bible college training or equivalent.Experience working in a school setting.Experience of SU syllabus or similar syllabus/resources.
