We are now recruiting for a Packaging Process Technologist join us who can lead all packaging initiatives at Northampton brewery to achieve world class packaging performance at the highest quality. Reporting to the Supply Chain Quality Manager this role will be responsible for:
Key Accountabilities:
- To support the overall quality of packaging at Northampton Brewery
- Accountable for the planning, communication, execution and reporting of all packaging trials, managing stakeholders and suppliers at each stage
- Support Quality Specialists in ensuring conformance of all supplier packaging materials involving trouble shooting, problem solving
- Responsible for EPD & NPD artwork approvals, checking legislative and mandatory inclusions as well as nutritional declarations
- Auditing of packaging suppliers (UK and WE) and contract packers.
- Ensure full compliance to all packaging-related UK/WE legislative standards and environmental policies to ensure business risk is minimized
- Responsible for maintaining and reviewing supplier specifications for materials, packaging items and palletisation - align them with group recommendations ensuring discrepancies are well documented
- Support Procurement teams in monitoring KPI of packaging material suppliers within a Supplier Scorecard, including routine supplier reviews
- Coordinate with Group for packaging best practices/audits/supplier review program
- Issuing and updating specifications to the contract packers, ensuring compliance and appropriate level of detail to ensure fit for purpose and right first time
- Challenge and drive quality standards, linked to effective monitoring systems of statistical process control
- Produce visual standard specification documentation to assure Quality and efficiency through the fully automated Packaging Process
Experience and Key Attributes required:
- Previous quality experience in an FMCG organisation with exposure to a variety of packaging materials
- Strong technical knowledge of associated packaging materials and automated processes
- Understanding of food safety requirements, packaging legislation & artwork approval
- Competent coaching and mentoring skills
- Formal auditing skills
- Customer focused mindset, and proven established customer relationships
- Previous experience overseeing and developing internal trials processes
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the inter dependencies of all the production departments
- Experience building and managing relationships with multi-departmental stakeholders
