Role Definition:
You will operate as part of the Paint Plant Quality Team, responsible for ensuring our internal and external customers receive the highest possible quality for their Building Construction Products (BCP). As a Paint Quality Technician you will be working closely with the Quality and Spray teams covering for both teams for planned and unplanned absences. You will utilise lean manufacturing tools and techniques whilst operating to defined "Takt Times" and schedules.
This role offers the opportunity to work Monday to Friday (Day Shift) in a safe and friendly environment.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Cover for Paint PDI and internal Paint Plant Quality Gates
Inspect fully built machines and individual components to the 1E2001 Paint Specification
Create, amend and close events on the AQE system
Mechanically prepare substrates to required standard using power tools.
Clean and prepare surfaces as per specification.
Set up equipment, prime and top coat, oven bake, check DFT.
Finish paint components and free of runs and sags and various other Paint defects. Cosmetic appearance must be of high quality and to Caterpillars 1E2001 specification.
Inspects, tests, cleans, adjusts, repairs and services 2K and gravity fed spray guns and other painting or coating equipment.
Repairs defects on painted products as required.
Compliance with safety and quality standards.
Compliance with 5S programme and other business improvement initiatives.
Display behaviour and conduct fitting with our Values in Action.
Train other employees if and when required.
Drive fully assembled machines internally and externally.
Show support and flexibility with working overtime when required

Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
Industrial wet paint experience using 2K paint systems
Fully competent in all wet painting application including repairs.
The ability to follow and comprehend verbal, specific and detailed procedures and work instructions as well as basic arithmetic calculations in order to perform the duties described above.
Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
Previous experience working in a lean environment.
Strong customer focus.
Attention to detail to meet quality standards.
Ability to prioritise and organise sequence of work.

Salary: £26,750 rising to £28,000
