Job Overview

We are currently recruiting for Painter/Decorator to join our passionate and driven team based at our client’s site in Scotland

The role is within SCTS / COPFS FM and Projects team. The successful candidate shall be responsible for the delivery of painting and decorating of internal and external areas of client premises on a planned, reactive and project basis, as well as working as part of a team in fabric refurbishment works in line with the contract specification and quality standards.

It is preferred that the candidate has experience in site supervision and holds either SSSTS or SMSTS qualifications. Experience of using smartphone and web based applications for timesheet processing, quoting/estimating of jobs and job updating is an essential part of the role.

A member of the dedicated multi-trade contract based team the candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of maintenance and repair of all aspects of the built environment in accordance with their trade skills, knowledge and experience. The candidate will additionally be required to undertake the service and maintenance of other trades or work across other FM clients projects where deemed competent to do so.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General painting and decorating works on a planned, reactive and project basis
  • Redecoration works as part of refurbishment of client premises
  • External paintwork of windows, doors and surfaces
  • Ability to proactively identify, measure and quote works
  • All other aspects of decoration within building refurbishment works including plastering and AMES taping
  • General building repairs within government offices
  • Working as part of a team in complete refurbishment / installation works including doors, door sets, window frames, staircases, stud partitions, ceilings. Make and fit interiors in offices and public facing areas.
  • Undertake supervision of sub-contractors or Arthur McKay site labour as appropriate.
  • Provide support to other in house trades or complete other trade tasks where deemed competent including minor plumbing repairs, tilling, painting and decorating and wet trades. 
  • To undertake reactive service works issued through the helpdesk within set time frames ensuring client expectations are met.
  • Provide detailed reports upon completion of works including breakdown processes, hours and materials of works to allow for accurate valuation.  
  • To provide a professional service and represent the company 
  • in a way which ensures customer satisfaction.
  • To take a pro-active approach to client liaison and ensure that concerns are dealt with or relayed to management as necessary.
  • To be fully aware of contractual requirements and customer needs at all times.

About You:

  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK
  • NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Painting and Decorating / City and Guilds equivalent within building trade
  • CSCS Skills card.
  • PASMA
  • SSSTS or SMSTS is preferred.
  • Previous experience working within FM environment.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Customer focussed individual with proactive approach to working.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and or as part of a team.
  • Smartphone technology capability essential
  • Accurately survey and measure painting / decorating jobs for estimating purposes
  • Ability to work safely at all times and the ability to understand contract and Health & Safety requirements/regulations. 
  • To attempt to solve issues in the first instance in a manner that will not put the client’s products or people at risk.
  • Possess effective communication skills with ability to write technical reports and or communicate verbally with Manager, helpdesk and client representatives.
  • Ability to identify issues or risks that require escalation as necessary to Manager.
